New momentum for the music school: Schlundt succeeds!

A new chapter for the music school! Anja Schlundt will take the lead after Mayor Jürgen Lippert assured that the successor is well regulated. Born in Coburg, the talented violinist and pedagogue has taught at the music school in Gemünden since 2018 and managed a small string orchestra. Mayor Lippert praised Schlundt as the perfect choice to continue the tradition and achievements of headmaster Weis. Although Weis will retire at the end of 2023, he remains until August 2025 to incorporate his successor and ensure a smooth transition.

Schlundt's career is impressive! In 2004 she completed her diploma as an artist and educator at the Würzburg University of Music. After various engagements as a freelance musician, she discovered her passion for class and has been inspiring the students in Gemünden for years. Your vision: closer cooperation with kindergartens, schools and clubs to bring children closer to the world of music and create new educational opportunities.

Weis, who has significantly built up the music school, emphasizes that the continued existence of the school under Schlundt's management is secured. The numbers also speak for themselves: in the school year 2023/24, the number of students rose by 8 %, especially thanks to a growing number of adults. Piano and guitar in particular are still very popular, while violin lessons have made significant progress under Schlundt. But the challenges should not be underestimated: it is important to win more children for music lessons, especially in times when working parents often have no time to bring their children to music school.

The music school receives important financial support, with a moderate loss of 2100 euros for the financial year 2023. But the positive views cannot be overlooked: for 2024 a higher subsidy is expected from the Free State of 44,000 euros. Anja Schlundt is ready to start her new office with energy and ideas!
