Bridge for integration: New language investigator office in Landau opened!

In a pioneering initiative, the city of Landau and the district of Südliche Weinstraße, together with the educational provider Profes, set a new standard to support immigrant people in the region. The pilot project "Language Mittling-Pfalz" aims to reduce language barriers and to facilitate access to important services.

The challenges for people with inadequate knowledge of German are immense. Navigating through offices or holding talks in healthcare can be a significant hurdle for you. The new language mediators who are conveyed through the project should not only help those affected, but also to the specialists in schools, childcare facilities and authorities by enabling them more precisely and efficiently. "It is crucial that citizens can also participate in society with low language skills," emphasize Süw-Landrat Dietmar Seefeldt and Landaus deputy Lena Dürphold.

Professionalization of language medication work

The initiative is considered necessary because many needy use compatriots who master their language of origin and German well. The aim of the project is to professionalize these processes and create easy access to professional language agents. According to Elena Bonatz, representative for migration and integration in Landau, and Sihame Hlubek, integration officer of the district, this is a decisive development for the support of migrants in the region.

Profes takes on the role of the central placement and coordination office within this project. Sandra Kiefer from Profes explains: "We accept inquiries from institutions or private individuals and coordinate suitable language mediators for their needs." In addition, a language determination pool is set up in which interested parties can enter in order to be requested for missions. This facilitates the organization and ensures that high -quality translation service can be provided.

For people who want to work as a language mediator or have questions about the initiative, the contact options are available by Sandra Kiefer. It can be reached both by phone on 0176 18099827 and by email.

This project is funded by the Rhineland-Palatinate Ministry of Family, Women, Culture and Integration as well as locally from the city of Landau and the Southern Weinstrasse district. The support of these institutions underlines the importance of addressing the linguistic needs of migrants and promoting integration into society.

The creation of this point of contact could have a positive impact on the integration of immigrants in the region by facilitating communication between different social groups. Such measures are essential to make harmonious coexistence and to strengthen society as a whole. The results of this project are followed with great expectation, and how to proceed, remains exciting.
