Erding Animal Welfare Association: New chairwoman and urgent calls for donations

The challenges for the Erding animal protection association have increased significantly in the past year. Economic pressure from rising energy costs and higher veterinary fees is putting a strain on the club's already strained resources. According to a report by the South German newspaper All places in the Kirchasch animal shelter, in the municipality of Bockhorn, are fully occupied. The volunteer keepers work tirelessly overtime to feed the animals and clean their enclosures, while at the same time looking back on joyful moments such as rehoming animals.

New board and need for donations

The animal welfare association recently underwent a leadership change: Michaela Maier was elected as the new chairwoman, while Sabine Sturm is her deputy. This change was necessary because the previous chairwoman, Alexandra Wendelken, resigned in October 2024 for personal and professional reasons. In order to continue to maintain important services such as medical care and animal rehoming, the association relies on donations, as stated in the annual report. All members are called upon to actively support and make donations. Further information can be found on the association's website.

There is also more positive news from other animal protection associations, such as the Animal Protection Association for Berlin, which is actively committed to improving the living conditions of animals. The association pursues the goal of promoting animal welfare-friendly forms of husbandry and has set itself the goal of abolishing factory farming. They are committed at the political level to promote non-animal methods in research, as on their website tierschutz-berlin.de is reported.
