Christoph Lochmüller: Green direct candidate dares to campaign for twelve months

A crucial Green Party delegate meeting recently took place in Markt Schwaben, which could make a significant contribution to next year's federal election. Christoph Lochmüller, a 57-year-old entrepreneur from Hohenlinden, was nominated as a direct candidate for the Erding-Ebersberg constituency. Lochmüller, who already ran for this position in 2021, appeared confident and well prepared during his presentation in front of around 100 party members and friends.

He explained that his political work is about offering concrete solutions to challenges such as climate change, inflation and migration. “We have to take people’s concerns and fears seriously and actively address them,” emphasized Lochmüller. He believes that the focus should not only be on traditional green issues, but that it is important to also take people's reality into account.

An experienced candidate with vision

Lochmüller, who is the managing director of a medium-sized elevator construction company and works as an organic farmer in his free time, wanted to set an example with his own lifestyle. He reported on his environmentally friendly initiatives at home, such as the use of wood chip heating and solar thermal energy. “We now have a year to catch up, we want to make real progress again,” said Lochmüller optimistically after his nomination.

His competitor, 31-year-old Lisa Schießer from Grüntegernbach, had a difficult time in the meeting. After her speech, in which she pleaded for more children's rights and the empowerment of young people in politics, she ultimately only received 32 votes. “For me the election campaign starts today,” said Lochmüller after his victory, while Schießer admitted that her lack of presence in the Ebersberg area could have been a reason for her result. However, she didn't want to give up and announced that she would run again next time.

The vote between Lochmüller and Schießer was a clear affair, with 51 votes for Lochmüller and one abstention. Members appear optimistic about the possibility of running a strong election with Lochmüller as their representative. “Political work must now be intensified to convince citizens of the Greens’ ideas and initiatives,” summarized Lochmüller after the election.

Details about this event and the Yoyventions are known and will become increasingly relevant over the next few months as the focus will be on the upcoming election. www.merkur.de reported in detail about the process and results of this meeting.
