Biberbach celebrates: war memorial shines in new splendor after restoration!
A radiant festival in Biberbach! The freshly restored war memorial, a symbol of commemoration, was solemnly blessed last Sunday. The Veteran and Soldier Association Biberbach, pride and full of emotions, marched to the monument with the Schönbrunn brass band, which had been waiting for its refreshment for 22 years. Pastoral officer Johannes Fichtl took over the blessing, while flags of the local fire brigade and the shooting club Tannengrün Biberbach framed the solemn act.
The celebrations fell on a special day, because the Memorial Day was preferred by two weeks. The chairman of the traditional club, Georg Weber, and Mayor Dieter Kugler resigned and emphasized the desire for peace in the world. "Start the wars!" Called Weber and recalled the many young men from Biberbach, who did not return from the world wars and left the suffering of their families. The names of these fallen heroes are immortalized on the memorial plaques of the monument, which now shines in new splendor.
restoration details and challenges
The restoration of the obelisk and the memorial stones was not an easy undertaking. The work dragged on than expected and cost a total of 5225 euros, of which the municipality of Röhrmoos took over two thirds. Secretary Klaus Wildgruber also reported challenges with the boxwood hedge, which may not be preserved. Despite these difficulties, the club is strongly there with 74 members, and the latest Canon, Andreas Beyer, made a solemn highlight during the celebration with three shots.
The community in Biberbach is committed and future -oriented, with a women's quota of 12 percent among members. The board members are always looking for new, young faces to keep tradition alive. A strong sign of cohesion and memory of the past, while the hope of peace in the present and future is in the foreground.
