ASV Cham ahead of crucial weeks: promotion in sight!
After the Christmas break, ASV Cham starts the crucial “Weeks of Truth”. The next four games will set the tone for the team as the decision about whether to remain in the Oberliga Nord or be promoted to the Regionalliga is looming. The first opponent that will be welcomed at home on Saturday at 5 p.m. is fourth-placed HSV Hochfranken.
After ten games, HSV Hochfranken can look back on a record of six wins and four defeats. Benny Heiduk from ASV Cham's sports management emphasizes the importance of using your own strengths, especially in away games. The team will focus on a tough and compact defense and a fast game for the entire 60 minutes. Heiduk explains that the goal is to be less predictable in all positions.
Start into the weeks of truth
In the last game of 2024, the team revealed some weaknesses, where in particular Petr Tahovsky, who scored seven goals, took responsibility. Coach Jan Vetrovec can rely on all players in his squad for the important game, including Martin Kovarik, who is fit again after an injury. [Mittelbayerische] reported that Heiduk also praised the opponent's strong offensive department, who have only given up two points on their own so far this season.
HSV Hochfranken is not only known for its offensive defense, but also has two good goalkeepers and a flexible middle man. Heiduk is nevertheless optimistic that the game without Harz in the Rehau sports center will not pose a major obstacle. ASV Cham's declared goal is a success against HSV Hochfranken in order to set a positive course for the future.
In addition to the expectations in the men's team, the current league standings of the various ASV Cham youth teams are also of interest. In the men's league, the team led by Arthur Scheurer is currently in first place with 19:1 points. The male B-youth and the female B-youth both play in midfield in their relays, while the male C-youth and some other youth teams also actively take part in the game. BHV statistics show the current standings of the youth teams.
