Freilassing Christmas market: Advent magic with music and treats!

The pre-Christmas season is just around the corner and in Freilassing it is celebrated with a spectacular Christmas market! On Saturday, November 23rd, at 2 p.m., the market will be opened with festive brass music and the celebratory kick-off by Mayor Markus Hiebl at 5 p.m. A true feast for the senses awaits visitors, who can look forward to a diverse culinary offering - from delicious waffles and Alsatian tarte flambée to Spanish churros and hearty pulled pork burgers.

The Christmas market is not only a place for culinary delights, but also offers an exciting stage program for young and old! On weekends from 2 p.m. to 7 p.m., visitors can explore the surrounding area with carriage rides from 3 p.m. to 5 p.m. Musical highlights include the Hefau Musicians and the Winnie Saile Trio “Bluebird”, who create a festive atmosphere on different days. A very special event will take place on December 1st, when wood sculptor Verena Stuhlreiter will carve live with a chainsaw!

Advent highlights and surprises

The festive atmosphere is complemented by the “Krampuskuscheln” on November 24th in the pedestrian zone, where the Freilassing Krampus & Perchten clubs introduce little visitors to their scary but friendly masks. The Freilassing Christ child will also be present and hand out sweets to increase the anticipation of Christmas. On December 8th, Santa Claus comes in a horse-drawn carriage to delight the children.

The market will continue until December 15th and will culminate on Christmas Eve with a picture book cinema and a traditional Christmas concert by the Freilassing town band. On November 24th, the Economic Forum (Wifo) will provide additional sparkle and a festive atmosphere in the city with a shopping Sunday. Here visitors can expect a wide range of gift ideas and an unforgettable Advent experience!
