TSV Aubstadt celebrates a furious 5-2 home win against Bamberg!
On Saturday afternoon, the players and officials of TSV Aubstadt celebrated a celebrated home victory in the Bavarian Regional Football League, which made the bright sun over the stadium shine as brightly as their faces. After a week full of frustration with two defeats against direct competitors, the Aubstadt team could finally breathe a sigh of relief. They defeated FC Eintracht Bamberg 5:2 (3:1) and collected the much-needed points. Coach Grell was relieved: "After the last two defeats, this success is of course incredibly good for us. We now have 21 points despite a difficult preliminary round. We can build on that."
Surprising tactic: striker becomes defender
The dramatic signs before the match were alarming: Captain Steffen Behr was sitting in the stands due to a fifth yellow card suspension, and defense chief Tim Hüttl was ill. But coach Grell made a brave decision: center forward Marco Nickel moved to the center of the back four - a position he had never played before. “We wanted to have a leader with mentality in this important position,” explained Grell. And Nickel, supported by Lukas Mrozek, mastered the challenge brilliantly.
The Aubstadt team started powerfully: Marvin Weiß took the lead, followed by a hit from Luke Hemmerich that made the audience cheer. But the joy was dampened when Bamberg suddenly shortened the score and got the nerves of the Aubstadt team. The shock didn't last long: a decisive goal before half-time restored the 3-1 lead. In the second half, Bamberg came dangerously close and reduced the deficit again, but the Aubstadt team found their way back to their game and were ultimately able to triumph with two more goals.
The preliminary round ended euphorically for TSV Aubstadt with an inspiring 5-2 win and 595 enthusiastic spectators. A sign of hope in an eventful football time!
