There was a power outage in Waechtersbach and surrounding communities in the afternoon that lasted about seven minutes. How Primavera24 reported that parts of Aschaffenburg and Gailbach had already been affected. The exact cause of the outage is still unclear, but it is believed that strong winds may have thrown a tree onto a power line. Those responsible advise being vigilant in stormy weather and recommend reporting any abnormalities immediately.
Power was restored within minutes and no major damage was reported. The relevant authorities have started investigating the incident.
Fire in the substation and its consequences
There was also a fire in the Waechtersbach substation on Saturday morning, which led to a widespread power outage East Hesse News reported. A short circuit in a voltage converter caused the fire, which led to the transformer being automatically switched off and a power outage. Around 25,000 households were affected.
Clarifying the origin of the short circuit is crucial for liability for the damage. The police, experts from the district works, experts from the insurance company and the manufacturer are involved in the investigation. The Main-Kinzig district works thanked the population for their understanding and apologized for the inconvenience. In addition, special thanks were expressed to the fire department, the emergency response center, the technical relief organization and the rescue service, as well as to the Lindenmayer bakery and the citizens for their support with food and drinks.
