Steindorf will be supplied with high-speed fiber optics by 2028!

Big things are happening in the small community of Steindorf in the Aichach-Friedberg district! From the end of 2025, the fiber optic providers M-net and miecom, together with Deutsche Telekom, will take responsibility for expanding a state-of-the-art fiber optic network. The project promises to connect around 440 households and businesses to super-fast internet by 2028 at the latest. With speeds of up to one gigabit per second, the new FTTB/H (Fiber-to-the-Building/Home) connections are created, which rely entirely on fiber optics and thus make the use of copper cables unnecessary. According to a statement from M-net, more than nine kilometers of new fiber optic cable will be laid, and the house connection will be free for eligible building owners. However, if you decide later, you could face high additional costs, such as Commune21 reported.

An important step for the future

The official cooperation agreement between the municipality and the fiber optic providers was recently signed, laying the foundation for this extensive expansion. Mayor Paul Wecker emphasized the importance of this project for the future accessibility and competitiveness of the community: “The fiber optic expansion is an important component of public services and therefore also for the future viability of our community.” In the past, Steindorf was gradually supplied with fiber optic connections, which paved the way for this final expansion Augsburger Allgemeine.

Construction work is scheduled to begin at the end of 2025 and will enable all affected households and businesses to be connected over the next three years. This measure comes at a crucial time as demand for high-speed internet continues to grow and is seen as a key factor in the positive development of the region. The investment underlines the community's commitment to becoming important not only as a place to live, but also as a vibrant economic area.
