Chocolate robbery in Sigmaringen: security staff injured!

A 25-year-old man from Sigmaringen caused a shocking incident in the supermarket that took place on St. Nicholas Day. The defendant, who lived in a state initial reception center, was accused of stealing a bar of chocolate worth only 3.45 euros. But that wasn't all: When a security guard confronted him, he is said to have brutally rammed his elbow into his stomach! A scandalous attack that now has serious consequences for the young man.

Despite the serious allegations, the defendant denied hitting the security guard. The video recordings from the supermarket could not clearly capture the blow, but both the public prosecutor and the judge agreed: the security employee, who was described as a “real bear,” stopped pursuing the defendant due to pain. The police officer who handled the case confirmed that the employee did not just collapse because of a push.

Judgment with suspended sentence and community service

Despite his claims that he would not hit anyone over a bar of chocolate, Judge Voß sentenced the defendant to eight months in prison on probation. He must also complete 60 hours of community service. The judge based her verdict on the defendant's positive social prognosis, even though he already had several entries in the police register. Fortunately, the security guard did not suffer any long-term injuries, which the judge also took into account in her decision. The chocolate that caused all the uproar is now also being confiscated.
