Dresden starts fiber optic expansion: Fastest Internet for 50,000 households!

By 2027, the city of Dresden plans to build an extensive fiber optic network that will serve 50,000 households and commercial units. The groundbreaking ceremony for this ambitious project was celebrated by Mayor Dirk Hilbert and Frank Brinkmann, CEO of SachsenEnergie, and marks the beginning of construction work in the north of Dresden.

In the first phase of the expansion, around 4,000 addresses in the Hellerau, Klotzsche, Rähnitz and Wilschdorf districts will be connected by the end of 2026, benefiting more than 8,600 households. The overall plan plans to include other districts, such as Mickten, Trachau and Pieschen, by 2027.
