Exciting promotion race in district class A2: Who will stay tuned?

In the A2 district football class, the promotion race has expanded in the region. There are currently four teams in the running: SKV Sandhofen, FV Fortuna Heddesheim II, SC Käfertal II and TSG 1862/09 Weinheim II. The competition has so far shown its high-scoring side: 613 goals were scored in a total of 128 games, which corresponds to an average of 4.8 goals per game.

Particularly noticeable is SC Käfertal II, which scored the most goals with 51 goals. On the other side is SC Blumenau, who conceded the most goals with 61 goals. Özdemir Gürsoy from SC United Weinheim leads the individual top scorers list with 15 goals, followed by Krzysztof Paulus from SC Blumenau, who has scored 14 goals. The highest-scoring game of the season was the encounter between SC Käfertal II and TSV Sulzbach, which ended 6:5. SV Schriesheim also achieved its biggest win of the season so far with an 8-1 win against SC Blumenau.

Current table position and developments

At the start of the season, both SKV Sandhofen and FV Fortuna Heddesheim II remained without losing points for seven match days. In the second half of the preliminary round, SC Käfertal II and TSG 1862/09 Weinheim II moved up to the top. SG 1983 Viernheim is currently seven points behind second place and is considered an outsider.

In the middle of the table there are the teams in places five to nine (SG 1983 Viernheim, SG Mannheim, SC United Weinheim, SV Schriesheim, DJK Feudenheim), which are not in acute danger of relegation. However, from tenth place (SG Hemsbach) things become critical, as the gap to the relegation place is only five points. TSV Sulzbach and SC Blumenau are currently in the relegation places, with TSV Sulzbach ahead of SC Blumenau due to the better goal difference. FV Leutershausen II and FC Phönix Mannheim would currently be directly relegated.

A coaching change so far has only taken place at FC Phönix Mannheim, where Philipp Bochinski was hired after the 7th matchday. A total of 64 red or yellow-red cards have already been shown, with FC Phönix Mannheim standing out with eight dismissals. In contrast, TSG 91/09 Lützelsachsen II remained without suspensions. There were no game cancellations in the preliminary round.

Parallel to these developments in the A2 district class, SG Schenklengsfeld/Rotensee/Wippershain also had an eye-catching season. This team has the best record in the league and is planning a merger with TSV Ransbach next season. Coach Udo Jäger was fired shortly before the winter break, and Felix Nothbaum and Andre Veselcic will take over until the end of the season. SG Praforst, on the other hand, leads the table with no losses and a clear eleven-point cushion, while FSG Jossatal II is facing exclusion with 0 points and 72 goals conceded in 15 games.
