Separate organic waste correctly: This is how Karlsruhe becomes an energy city!

Biowaste – a valuable raw material that can be turned into compost and biogas! But the quality of the organic waste collected often leaves something to be desired. The Clean Karlsruhe (TSK) team has now launched an exciting initiative to raise awareness among citizens in large residential complexes about the correct separation and disposal of organic waste. In the coming weeks, the TSK will actively communicate with tenants and review the effectiveness of their measures.

The numbers are alarming: a large proportion of organic waste ends up in the residual waste! The organic waste is often packed in plastic or bioplastic bags, which makes recycling much more difficult. Correct disposal is very simple: leftover food, fruit and vegetable peelings as well as coffee filters and tea bags belong in the organic waste bin - but unpackaged! Plastic bags are an absolute no-go! The best solution? Dispose of organic waste loosely, wrapped in newspaper or in paper bags.
