Talentchmiede Heidenheim: Wanner relies on the big football dream!

Paul Wanner, a 19-year-old talented football player, decided to continue his career at 1. FC Heidenheim after playing in the second division at SV Elversberg. Last season he scored six goals and three assists. His move to the 1. FC Heidenheim was confirmed by coach Frank Schmidt, who explained that Wanner and his family were convinced that this was the right step for his sporting development. In order to get more playing time, Wanner decided against a continuation of his time at FC Bayern Munich, where he feared to acidify the bank.

Wanner has already completed 23 games in the current season and has come to 1,435 minutes. He showed himself as a reliable player at crucial moments, made a contribution to his first goal of the season against St. Pauli and took on a key role in the qualification game for the Conference League against BK Häcken. He scored a total of six goals and two assists this season. Wanner is seen as a hope for the U21 national team because he wants to qualify for the U21 European Championship in the coming summer.

career start and services

Paul Wanner was born on December 23, 2005 in Dornbirn, Austria. He plays as an offensive midfielder and winger for the 1st FC Heidenheim, on a loan from Bayern Munich. His football career began in the youth team of FV Ravensburg before moving to Bayern Munich in 2018. In January 2022, Wanner was appointed to the first team by Julian Nagelsmann and gave his professional debut in the Bundesliga on January 7, 2022 against Borussia Mönchengladbach.

At only 16 years and 15 days, he became the youngest player in the history of Bayern Munich and the second youngest in the Bundesliga. On October 12, 2022, he set another record when he became the youngest player of Bavaria in the Champions League at the age of 16 and 293 days. On September 1, 2023, Wanner switched to SV Elversberg on a loan and on June 24, 2024 to 1. FC Heidenheim. On August 17, 2024, he scored his first goal in the DFB Cup and quickly established himself in the Bundesliga.

international commitment

Wanner represented the German national team at the youth level and made his debut for the U17 national team on August 6, 2021. In October 2024 he was appointed to the German U21 national team. Wanner has both the Austrian and German citizenship because his mother has Austrian and father German roots.

Wanner's career course is followed carefully because several Bundesliga clubs, including VfB Stuttgart, Eintracht Frankfurt, Bayer Leverkusen and Borussia Dortmund, show interest in him. Its current market value is estimated at around 18 million euros. Despite an existing contract with Bayern Munich, which runs until 2027, its future remains uncertain beyond the current loan. In the near future, Wanner focuses on keeping Heidenheim in the Bundesliga and being successful in the Conference League.
