Schmidt defends rotation: Crazy not to switch!
After the bitter DFB Cup exit, Heidenheim's coach Frank Schmidt's anger is far from gone! The coach of 1. FC Heidenheim is furious when he reacts to the critical questions about his numerous lineups. “I would be crazy if I didn’t rotate!” explains Schmidt, who vehemently defends himself against the allegations.
Schmidt, who only played with his team against Hertha BSC (1:2) on Wednesday, had made major changes to his starting eleven. Despite being 2-0 down, the team fought back, but the supposed 2-2 by Paul Wanner was overturned after a controversial decision by the referee. “I don’t understand the question,” says Schmidt as he defends the breadth of his squad. “Of course we are well positioned to face the many challenges!”
Schmidt remains optimistic
Despite the setbacks, Schmidt remains optimistic. “We are in the middle of the table and have achieved two wins in the Conference League,” he emphasizes. The coach is convinced that his team is fighting to stay in the league and is making mistakes, but he trusts his players. “I would be crazy if I didn’t have access to so many fit players!” On Saturday Heidenheim plays Holstein Kiel – a real test for Schmidt and his team!
