Scandal in Emmendingen: Toxic barrels illegally disposed of – witnesses wanted!

Freiburg (ots)

An alarming incident has occurred in the Emmendingen region: unknown persons have illegally disposed of at least twelve large blue chemical barrels! The barrels, which are filled with dangerous chemicals such as phenyl chloroformate and surfactant solutions, were dumped at two different locations on the route from Streitberg to Eichbergturm. Two of the containers were discovered on Landstrasse 110 and ten more on K 5100, where they were thrown into the hillside!

This heinous act happened in mid-October and leaves the police puzzled. The barrels were disposed of so quickly and secretly that no one saw the perpetrators responsible. An investigation found that some of the barrels date back to 2008, suggesting they were likely hidden in poor storage conditions for a long time before being dumped in an unclear manner. Some of the barrels were damaged and leaked, which led to soil contamination!

Police are urgently looking for witnesses

The police are now investigating the connection between this crime and are looking for witnesses who may have observed suspicious vehicles or activities in connection with the dropping of the barrels. It is suspected that the perpetrators were traveling in a larger vehicle to transport the heavy barrels. Residents and passers-by are urged to contact the police to shed light on these environmental crimes. Every clue counts!

The environmental consequences of this crime should not be underestimated, and investigations are being carried out at full speed to catch those responsible. This dangerous chemical disposal is not only a violation of environmental law, but also endangers public safety. Who can help? The police accept tips and information at any time on 07641-582-0!
