Alois statue in Schwäbisch Gmünd: Soon with a bilingual information board!

The Alois sculpture on the market square in Schwäbisch Gmünd, which has been shining under the St. John's Tower since its unveiling in the summer of 2024, has attracted the attention of numerous passers-by. The imposing statue represents the world-famous Peer tradition, which is a UNESCO World Heritage Site. Now the attraction is enriched by a bilingual information board – in German and English!

Bilingual education for visitors

Thanks to an initiative by Gerhard Bucher, chairman of the AGV umbrella organization, anyone interested will soon find out what this impressive statue is all about. At a meeting of the local council, Bucher provided information at the request of CDU city councilor Dr. Birgit Stahl about making the board. Mayor Richard Arnold referred to the constantly increasing number of foreign visitors and explained that such information signs will be a general part of the sights in Gmünd's city center in the future. These measures aim to offer visitors better orientation and make the city's cultural highlights more understandable.

The information board will provide valuable insights into the fascinating history of the Alois sculpture not only to interested locals, but also to the numerous tourists visiting the city. A step that not only enhances the cityscape, but also promotes cultural understanding!
