Student protest in Vienna: Blau-Schwarz must not go to school!

Stephansplatz, 1010 Wien, Österreich - The Landeschülerstorstung Vienna called for an urgent school strike for February 14 to demonstrate against an impending FPÖ-ÖVP government. This protest will take place on Valentine's Day and should set a clear sign. The demonstration begins at 9:30 a.m. on Stephanplatz and ends with a rally in front of the Federal Chancellery on Ballhausplatz. "Blau-Schwarz must not go to school", according to the motto, which is supposed to mobilize many students, such as ots report.

Leon Rudan, AHS state school spokesman, emphasizes the responsibility of the students: inside, to fight for an inclusive future. "Cutting under FPÖVP only brakes the development of our education system. We need modern schools that promote innovation," he explains in a press release. His deputy, Jacob Guberner, emphasizes that such a government could tighten social inequalities, while critical voices would be suppressed in schools. Other youth organizations also support the protest and call for participation in order to stand up for a socially just and democratic education system, as is OE24 reported.

The central demand for the strike is about protection of democracy, real climate protection and more participation among young people. The organizers invite all pupils and teachers to join the strike and to set a strong sign against cuts and discrimination in the education system. The protest promises to become a clear expression of freedom of expression and a advance for a fairer education.
