Student protest in Vienna: Blue and Black are not allowed to do school!

The Vienna State Student Council has called for an urgent school strike on February 14th to demonstrate against a threatening FPÖ-ÖVP government. This protest will take place on Valentine's Day and is intended to send a clear message. The demonstration begins at 9:30 a.m. at Stephansplatz and ends with a rally in front of the Federal Chancellery at Ballhausplatz. “Blue and black are not allowed to do school,” is the motto that is intended to mobilize many students OTS report.

Leon Rudan, AHS state school spokesman, emphasizes the students’ responsibility to fight for an inclusive future. "Cuts under the FPÖVP only slow down the development of our education system. We need modern schools that promote innovation," he explains in a press release. His deputy, Jacob Guberner, points out that such a government could exacerbate social inequalities while suppressing critical voices in schools. Other youth organizations also support the protest and call for participation in order to advocate for a socially just and democratic education system, like it oe24 reported.

The central demand of the strike is about protecting democracy, real climate protection and more participation among young people. The organizers invite all students and teachers to join the strike and send a strong signal against cuts and discrimination in the education system. The protest promises to be a clear expression of freedom of expression and a push for more equitable education.
