New Saanen municipal council: Who gets which department?

During the inaugural meeting of the municipal council in Saanen, decisive decisions were made for the coming year. Under the new president Petra Schläppi, the departments for the newly elected local councilors were distributed. Philippe Marmet from the GLP will head the education department, while Elio von Grünigen and Sigbert Feller from the FDP will take over the projects and social affairs departments. These decisions were made on December 13, 2024. The formal confirmation of these positions will take place at the first meeting of the newly elected council in the new year, where the vice president will also be elected Platform J reported.

Resource allocation and remediation projects

In addition to the division of departments, there was also news regarding extensive renovation work. The Sunnebühl retirement home in Lauenen will be extensively renovated from April to October 2025, during which time operations will be relocated to one floor of the former Saanen Hospital. The municipality of Saanen announced that the necessary rental conditions have already been determined and that the retirement home will contribute to the renovation costs, while the municipality will bear some of the costs as the property owner.

Another project concerns road construction. The Saanenmöser-Dälweid path cooperative has submitted an application for a share in the costs for the renovation of the train path. The local council has already approved the request and will provide a sum of 100,322.25 francs. Furthermore, a supplementary loan of 100,000 francs was approved for the maintenance of the wastewater disposal system in order to implement important projects that were not taken into account in the previous budget NOEN reported.
