Vienna is investing millions in the cycle route: Hasnerstrasse is becoming safer!

Hasnerstraße in the Ottakring district, which was named Vienna's first bicycle-friendly street in 2012, is undergoing extensive development to improve both traffic safety and the quality of stay. Numerous measures have already been implemented in recent years, including the doubling of intersection plateaus and improving visibility by extending sidewalks. Now, from 2025, additional markings are to be introduced in the intersection areas, as well as new stop lines and priority signs to increase visibility. This is reported by the Vienna.gv.at.

The plans also include the construction of additional bicycle parking facilities at ten locations and the installation of benches for citizens. At the same time, a review of the one-way streets adjacent to Hasnerstrasse will be carried out in order to expand routes for cyclists. District leader Stefanie Lamp emphasizes the importance of these investments for the quality of life in the district and emphasizes that a total of 5.6 million euros will flow into public projects as part of the Ottakring district budget approved for 2025. The Vienna.gv.at informed that these measures are also being carried out in the context of the “Climate Fit Hippviertel”, which is intended to have a positive influence on the microclimate in the region.
