ÖFB under new management: Josef Pröll competes as the head of the supervisory board!

Bregenzer Festspielhaus, 6900 Bregenz, Österreich - On May 18, 2025, Josef Pröll was unanimously elected as the new chairman of the supervisory board during the regional Federal General Meeting of the Austrian Football Association (ÖFB) in the Bregenz Festival House. In addition to Pröll, Burgenland's interim president Johannes Wutzlhofer and Bundesliga supervisory board Philip Thonhauser also received confidence in the assembly and were unanimously elected deputies. The assembly also decided on a comprehensive structural reform that converts the Presidium of the ÖFB into a supervisory board and aimed at relocating competencies from volunteering to a main office.

This reform turns to the new understanding of the management structure: the highest position in the ÖFB will no longer be the president, but the chairman of the supervisory board. The amendments to the articles of association were unanimously accepted. In his first speech, Pröll emphasized the importance of cohesion and calm in the association in order to achieve the goal of the World Cup qualification. At the same time, he made it clear that party politics in football is not important for him.

strategic realignment

Josef Pröll announced that they want to have talks with the Federal Chancellor, the Minister of Sports and the Sports Proters of all parliamentary parties. A central goal is to develop a general strategy for the ÖFB. The discussion about corona wages at six regional associations also occupies a place; Pröll wants to check the legal aspects. In addition, the amendment to the articles of association, which Wolfgang Bartosch made an interim president, was adopted with a vote ratio of 10: 3. Bartosch himself referred to the negative public disputes within the Presidium, but praised the construction of the ÖFB campus and the established spirit of optimism since Ralf Rangnick's taking office.

The planned structural reform is intended to shorten the decision -making channels in the association and thus increase efficiency. These measures are related to the constant challenge of currently taking the Austrian men's national team, currently in 29th place in the FIFA world rankings, and successfully preparing themselves for the next tournaments. The team has already qualified for the 2024 European Championship in Germany.

new jerseys and fan articles

With the realignment of the association, the cooperation between the ÖFB and Puma is also emphasized for the design of new jerseys. These new jerseys combine traditional design with modern elements and are inspired by the Austrian Art Nouveau architecture. The home jersey shows a classic red with a white circular neckline and white decorations on the sleeves, while the away jersey in traditional white has gray and turquoise accents and a black V-neck. The replica jerseys consist of at least 95% polyester, made by Pumas Re: fibre recycling process, and use the innovative Puma drycell technology for optimal moisture management.

The ÖFB fanshop not only offers these new jerseys, but also a variety of fan articles that can be personalized individually with the original flock. Many players of the men's national team, such as David Alaba, Marko Arnautović and Christoph Baumgartner, represent the country on an international parquet. For women, athletes such as Sarah Puntigam, the record player of the women's national team with 144 international operations, and captain of the team are in focus.
