New Netto market in Berne: ultra-modern construction and opening in 2025!

Construction of a new Netto market is expected to begin in the municipality of Berne before Easter. The discount store will be built on property on Weserstrasse that was previously intended for a kindergarten. The area covers around 1,100 square meters and is being built using climate-friendly timber frame construction NWZ Online reported. The market will not only offer groceries, but will also include a bakery with an integrated café.

Building permit for the project was granted in December 2024. Due to the special ground conditions, a special foundation with full displacement piles will be necessary. The design of the market envisages an open ceiling construction with visible wooden trusses. The roof will also be equipped with a photovoltaic system, which will contribute to the environmentally friendly aspects of the construction project. The parking lot will be equipped with e-mobility parking spaces.

Opening and other projects

The Netto market in Berne is scheduled to open before Christmas 2025, possibly as early as November. A similar market is also being planned in the municipality of Ovelgönne. The market in Großenmeer will be created as a “classic local supplier” and will cover an area of ​​around 800 square meters. This market will also be built using a timber frame construction, but without an open ceiling construction. A photovoltaic system and a heat pump are also planned for Ovelgönne.

Ratisbona Projektentwicklung KG, which bought the property in Berne in 2022, is planning several markets in the Wesermarsch due to the high level of acceptance and political support. After both markets are completed, there will be a total of eight Netto markets in the Wesermarsch district Ratisbona notes.
