New elementary school in Lichtenberg: A modern learning paradise is being created!
There is great progress in school construction in Berlin-Lichtenberg! The plans for a brand new primary school on Grafenauer Weg have now been officially presented. According to the Berlin newspaper The school will have space for 432 students and will feature a modern, brick-red facade, innovative learning spaces, atriums and even a green classroom. Howoge Wohnungsbaugesellschaft mbH will undertake this area of responsibility as part of the Berlin school building offensive and plans to open for the 2027/2028 school year. Construction is scheduled to begin in spring 2026. Special features are the photovoltaic systems on the roofs and the cooperation with the nearby Lev Tolstoy School, which leads to the use of the outdoor facilities.
Completion of the double school on the Avenue of the Cosmonauts
But that's not all! The largest double school in Berlin was recently completed on Allee der Kosmonauten. With an area of 21,000 square meters, this facility will accommodate around 1,600 students, including 900 for the integrated secondary school and 664 for the high school. This impressive development was realized in just 30 months of construction Howoge reported. In order to make optimal use of the new space, the building follows the compartment principle, which integrates 15 small schools in one large building. This creates an interactive learning environment that meets both modern educational requirements and the increasing number of students.
The use of the outdoor areas is supplemented by sports and play areas, and sustainability is not neglected either: the building will be equipped with a retention roof and photovoltaic systems, meaning that the new school building will not only provide space for learning, but also for responsible behavior. These advances highlight the growing demands on modern educational institutions in a constantly changing city like Berlin.
