Digital revolution in construction: The future begins at KAS Biberach!

In a decisive turning point for the construction industry, the Karl Arnold School in Biberach will be part of a groundbreaking pilot project by the state of Baden-Württemberg that will drive the digital transformation of construction planning for the next few years. How Schwäbische.de reports, the project relies on the innovative method of Building Information Modeling (BIM), which has been mandatory for building construction projects since the end of 2022 and will apply to all federal construction projects from 2027. Engineer Anja Geyer emphasizes that this new way of working will revolutionize collaboration in planning and construction by digitally networking and expanding numerous analog processes.

The introduction of BIM at the Karl Arnold School goes hand in hand with the training of the next generation of architects and engineers. The students take on different roles within a completed construction project, which provides practical experience in digital planning. They work all coordination processes and planning 100 percent digitally, supported by experienced teachers. This happens as part of the “BIM@School 2.0” program, a cooperation between several types of schools in Baden-Württemberg.

Experience technical innovations

In addition to digital training, the Karl Arnold School also offers modern facilities for technical professions. The extension, the planning of which was implemented by Rädle+Textor, promotes learning areas such as timber construction, food technology and automotive technology. Part of this architecture are the striking, differently printed glass panels of the mosaic facade, which integrates 21 works of art by the artist Willi Siber. This facade has quickly become a symbol of the school center, as well eusarchitekten.de confirmed, and was awarded by the Baden-Württemberg Chamber of Architects in 2009.
