Digital revolution in construction: The future begins at KAS Biberach!
In a crucial turning point for the construction industry, the Karl-Arnold School in Biberach becomes part of a pioneering pilot project by the state of Baden-Württemberg, which is promoting the digital transformation of construction planning for the next few years. Like Schwäbische.de , the project is based on the innovative method of Building Information Modeling (BIM), which has been prescribed for building construction project since the end of 2022 and from 2027 will apply to all federal construction measures. Engineer Anja Geyer emphasizes that this new way of working will revolutionize cooperation in planning and in construction by digitally networking and expanding numerous analogous processes.
The introduction of BIM at the Karl Arnold School goes hand in hand with the training of the next generation of architects and engineers. The students take on different roles within a realized construction project, which conveys practical experience in digital planning. They work 100 percent digitally, supported by experienced teachers. This is done as part of the "BIM@School 2.0" program, a cooperation of several types of school in Baden-Württemberg.
Experience technical innovations
In addition to digital training, the Karl-Arnold School also offers modern rooms for technical professions. The extension, the planning of which was implemented by Rädle+Textor, promotes learning fields such as timber construction, food technology and vehicle technology. Part of this architecture are the striking, differently printed glass panels of the mosaic facade, which integrates 21 works of art by the artist Willi Siber. This facade quickly became a symbol of the school center, as well as eusarchitect.de confirmed in 2009 by the Baden-Württemberg Chamber of Architects.
