Conti in Northeim: Major location changes and future plans!

The Conti plant in Northeim is facing significant changes. During 2025, hose production will cease, transforming one location into two separate locations. To make this adjustment possible, a separation fence is erected. In addition, the independence of Contitech's Original Equipment Solutions (OESL) business area is expected to be completed by mid-2025.

Organizational, legal and structural changes are required to implement these measures. This includes, among other things, the construction of a separate entrance, a new parking lot and a canteen. The OESL division combines the automotive business of the Contitech division and currently employs 540 people in Northeim. A total of around 1,460 employees work in the various Contitech business areas at this location.

Measures to secure employment

Redundancies have already been avoided for operational reasons and the company is doing everything it can to maintain this goal even while hose production is stopped. The agreed measures to avoid dismissals include partial retirement, use of the company's internal labor market and placements via Conti Motion GmbH. In addition, further training measures are offered by the Continental Institute for Technology and Transformation.

At the same time, Continental is preparing for the spin-off of the automotive division. Philipp von Hirschheydt emphasized the team's high motivation for this step and informed that the Capital Market Day for the independent automotive division was planned for the summer of 2025. Wolfgang Reitzle, Chairman of Continental's Supervisory Board, described the board's decision as an important milestone in increasing the company's value. The entire Supervisory Board supports the plan to strengthen the independence of the remaining corporate divisions.

A sales process is planned for Original Equipment Solutions, which supplies rubber products to automobile manufacturers, in the first quarter of 2025. OESL employs over 16,000 people in 16 countries and intends to increase its focus on industrial customers, such as the Continental website reported.
