Electric shock at Rastatt train station: workers injured and rail traffic chaos!

Rastatt, Germany – A serious incident shook Rastatt train station on Friday morning, March 7, 2025. A 55-year-old worker was injured by electric shock during repair work around 9 a.m. The injured man was immediately taken out of the danger area and treated by emergency services before he was transported to a nearby hospital. Immediately after his arrival, the emergency services noticed smoke developing in a cable shaft, which was caused by a smoldering fire. This incident forced the fire department to respond while the station and surrounding tracks were completely without power, fireworld.at reported.

The situation at the station continued to deteriorate as Deutsche Bahn, in response to the disruption, set up a rail replacement service to support affected travelers. The silver lining: The injured worker has now been able to leave the hospital. However, the exact cause of the accident remains unclear and is under investigation by the Offenburg Federal Police Inspectorate. In the meantime, the disruptions to rail traffic, which particularly affected lines S7, S8 and S81, were officially reported as having been completed at around 12:13 p.m. However, while the work continues, delays and cancellations may still occur, as ka-news.de reported.
