Austria's cross-country team cheers according to dramatic medal judgment!
At the Nordic World Ski Championship in Trondheim, a heated protest caused a sensation when the Austrian team around Johannes Lamparter fought for the bronze medal. After an exciting race, in which lamparter made 27 seconds behind on the home stretch, he suddenly pulled to the right and touched the Japanese Yamamoto. The latter then made an objection to the decision, which resulted in longer discussions with the jury, as vienna.at . The jury under the direction of FIS racing director Lasse Ottesen had to advise more than an hour to find out whether Lamparter Yamamoto had actually hindered.
In the end, the situation relaxed when the jury decided that Lamparter was not to blame and the Austrian team was allowed to keep the bronze medal. "It was a difficult decision, we went through all the rules," said Ottesen, while Lamparter was happy about the exit, even linked to the comparison to Formula 1. "The one who is in front can choose the train," he said confidently, which underlines his conviction that he had not made any mistakes. As the Eurosport reported, the joy of the ÖSV quartet was huge, despite the nerve-wracking waiting time and the patience they had to raise.Details | |
