Mega blast in Waren: 290 residents have to evacuate!
in Waren, Mecklenburg-Western Pomerania, are facing significant construction work on the railway bridge, which are heralded with the controlled explosive one of the bridges in January 2025. The demolition of the bridge is planned for January 18 and will significantly impair residents and traffic. Around 290 residents have to leave the blocking area at 8:00 a.m., while the explosion itself is carried out from 12.30 p.m. The streets in the restricted zone are closed from 7:00 a.m. and an emergency accommodation for those affected is available in the Papenberg youth club. Significant damage in the spanning steel has been determined for the bridge, which is why a new building is required, such as n-tv.de reported.
The entire construction measure extends to 2028 and comprises several construction phases with costs of around 28 million euros. First, the "Nord" bridge is canceled, while traffic is to be redirected across the "Süd" bridge. The explosion is carried out by an expulsion explosive of the bridge pillars, with the entire security area being blocked for one day. During this time there will also be significant impairments of rail traffic. From January 10th to March 7th there will be a full closure of the rail section between Neustrelitz and goods. In this phase, rail replacement traffic and capacity adjustments are planned at Deutsche Bahn, since the route between Berlin and Hamburg is also affected. The explosion and the following construction work have thus reported far-reaching effects, such as nordkurier.de
