Bus accident in Villach: injured after a spectacular collision!
Villach, Österreich - A terrifying bus accident shook Villach this morning! Shortly after 9:00 a.m., the main fire station and the fire brigades Völkendorf and Judendorf were called for a dramatic incident. A regular bus, the driver of which collided with the installation of a roundabout for previously unknown cause, then crashed into a bridge railing and a noise barrier on the ÖBB railway line. This unfortunate maneuver led to the fact that the bus got stuck on one of the bridge ramps, which resulted in an immediate rescue operation, as HBI Harald Geissler, commander of the main fire station Villach.
Three passengers were able to leave the bus unharmed, but the driver and another person had to be treated on the bus due to their injuries, whose severity was initially unclear and were then transported to the LKH Villach. The assignment was challenging because the requested rescue helicopter could only land nearby, which required a large -scale detour of the traffic. This situation was also complicated because parts of the noise barrier had fallen onto the tracks of the ÖBB route, which is why the train had to be closed at short notice. The ÖBB emergency coordinator worked with the fire brigade at the recovery of the debris.
extensive rescue work
After around four hours of intensive use, in which around 30 firefighters as well as the Red Cross and the police were supported, the fire brigade's forces managed to secure the bus safely from the bridge and to clean the site. The leaked fuel was also professionally bound and the badly damaged infrastructure, including the noise barrier and the bridge railing, was evaluated. The accident not only led to injuries, but also caused considerable damage to the transport infrastructure, which must be remedied immediately to ensure security. As Feuerwehr-Villach , the fire department Villach always remains up to date with the latest and efficiently react to such emergencies.
