Two injured after a serious head-on accident on the B20 near Bischofswiesen

On November 4, 2025, there was a serious traffic accident on the B 20 federal highway near Bischofswiesen in Bavaria. At around 2 p.m., a 76-year-old driver from Piding, who was driving a Dacia towards Bad Reichenhall, drove into the oncoming lane for reasons that are still unclear. This led to a head-on collision with a Renault driven by a 63-year-old woman from Teisendorf.

Thanks to a quick evasive maneuver by an oncoming vehicle, a direct collision was avoided, but the Dacia and the Renault collided without braking. The force of the impact caused both vehicles to be severely deformed, with debris scattered across the entire road. The two injured people were transported to the hospital with moderate injuries.

Emergency services and consequences of the accident

The Bischofswiesen volunteer fire department was on site with around 40 emergency services to secure the scene of the accident. They used four vehicles to direct traffic and also provided fire protection. The rescue service, consisting of two ambulances and a Red Cross emergency doctor, treated the injured and transported them to the Bad Reichenhall district clinic.

The federal highway B 20 was closed between Loipler Straße and Riedherrngasse for around one and a half hours while the emergency services carried out their work. A diversion was put in place until the closure was lifted and traffic could flow again. The damage caused to the vehicles is estimated at around 60,000 euros.
