Future of crafts: 531 jubilee craftsmen honored in Ulm!
On January 10, 2025, numerous craftsmen and women in the Ulm region were honored for their many years of service to the craft. The Ulm Chamber of Crafts brought together a total of 531 people who celebrated company and master anniversaries. Dr. Tobias Mehlich, General Manager of the Ulm Chamber of Crafts, spoke during the ceremony about the essential role that craft businesses play in regional supply, be it through repairs, baking or installing heating and photovoltaic systems.
In the region, which stretches from the Ostalb to Lake Constance, more than 120,000 people are employed in the trades. There are currently around 8,000 trainees and over 20,000 craft businesses. In 2024, 204 craft businesses were recognized for their many years of successful work. The celebrations included anniversaries in various districts including:
- 25 im Alb-Donau-Kreis
- 21 im Landkreis Biberach
- 16 im Stadtgebiet Ulm
- 14 im Landkreis Heidenheim
- 52 im Ostalbkreis
- 26 im Bodenseekreis
- 50 im Landkreis Ravensburg
Master's certificates and honors for long-term commitments
As part of the event, 327 craftsmen and women received master craftsman certificates, which were awarded in various categories: silver for 25 years, gold for 50 years and diamond for 60 years of craftsmanship. Mehlich emphasized the importance of masters as ambassadors and trainers of the craft, who are crucial for the competitiveness and sustainable success of the companies.
In addition to honoring the anniversaries, attention was also drawn to the possibility that the Ulm Chamber of Crafts offers free certificates for anniversaries and master craftsmen's certificates, as shown on hwk-ulm.de reported. For example, Sabine Bergmann-Gaugler received the silver master craftsman certificate for 25 years of commitment to the craft. Nusser Zerspantechnik GmbH from Nellingen celebrated its 50th anniversary, and managing director Rainer Nusser was awarded a certificate for his decades-long passion for the craft.
