Vienna's mayor packs Christmas presents with postmen!
On Friday, December 13th, in Vienna at the postal logistics center in Inzersdorf, not only were packages sorted, but memories also flew back. Mayor Michael Ludwig and cathedral priest Toni Faber, both with an exciting past at the post office, pitched in vigorously. Faber, who was a holiday intern 45 years ago, described himself as an “experienced postal worker” and praised the tireless work of the postal employees during the hectic run-up to Christmas. Ludwig, who also worked in the postal industry as a young man, reported that the post office recorded a record 1.56 million packages per day during this time. Throughout December, over 230,000 packages are sorted every day in the Vienna logistics center, as mentioned in a press release from the Post, which also discussed the support provided by the two prominent helpers.
Support for businesses in need
But Mayor Ludwig's focus isn't just on the parcel business. In a powerful commitment, the city is investing a massive 50 million euros to help companies that have gotten into difficulties as a result of the corona pandemic. Ludwig emphasizes that young people need special support and announced that they will fight for every job. This also includes measures such as a guarantee of apprenticeships and the promotion of inter-company training centers. These initiatives are intended to ensure that thousands of jobs are secured in Vienna, which is particularly important in the current economic situation. How Vienna district newspaper reports, the city is actively committed to creating a stable future for its citizens and businesses.
