Wermelskirchen: Donations bring joy and community for young people!

In Wermelskirchen and Remscheid, a generous donation from the Dönges company ensures that the children and young people of the Evangelische Jugendhilfe Bergisch Land (EJBL) have bright eyes. Under the Christmas tree in the residential groups are not only personal gifts, but also a special community gift: high-quality board games. These were selected in collaboration with the “Holzwürmchen” toy store to support the 17 residential groups. Silke Gaube, the managing director of the EJBL, explained the importance of the games, which are not only fun, but also promote the young people's teamwork and communication skills. The donation of 2500 euros will also be used to support art projects, which underlines the sustainable support of the local initiative RP Online reported.

Honor for years of commitment

Meanwhile, Heidrun Neitzel, a dedicated EJBL employee, was awarded the Diakonie's Golden Crown Cross for her 26 years of work with teenagers and young adults. At a small celebration in the Evangelical Community Center, Silke Gaube acknowledged her tireless commitment and the positive charisma that she has brought to the residential groups over the years. Neitzel, who began working shifts in the “Amselhaus” boys’ residential group in 1997, has supported countless young people with her expertise and empathy the Evangelical Youth Welfare Service Bergisch Land reported. This honor reflects not only her dedication, but also the strong foundation that EJBL provides for its clients.
