Fierce chase in the region

At 12:30 a.m., officers were conducting a traffic stop in Seesen/Wildemann when an Opel ignored the stop signals and fled into the Münchehof district. The escape led over several streets to Wildemann, where the vehicle was finally stopped in a driveway at the edge of the forest.

Suddenly the Opel raced towards the police officers, causing a 26-year-old police officer to be hit and injured. Here, too, a shot was fired from a service weapon. The escaping vehicle crashed in the forest shortly afterwards, but the escape continued on foot, which made extensive search operations - including the use of a police helicopter - necessary. Finally, two male inmates near Wildemann were arrested, but they remained uninjured.
