Dispute over boulder: Resident can no longer use his gate!
A strange dispute between residents and city administrations is causing a stir in Rostock and Schwäbisch Gmünd. In Rostock, Sven Schulz has an unexpected obstacle in front of his property: a massive boulder that the city has placed in front of his garden gate. When Schulz returns from work, he finds the approximately 60 centimeter large stone that prevents him from accessing it with his trailer. The city points out that the stone was put up to protect the green space, as driving on these areas is prohibited according to the statutes. Schulz, disappointed and outraged, wonders why only his property is treated like this, while other residents are apparently allowed to park undisturbed Baltic Sea newspaper reported.
Problems in the western town of Schwäbisch Gmünd
At the same time, there are also problems in Schwäbisch Gmünd that affect the citizens. Klaus Arnholdt, head of the Office for Education and Sport, admits that the plans for the all-day school at the Stauferschule are making slow progress. Despite approval for the current school year already in place, there is no progress because the headmistress has been ill for a long time. The hope for a quick solution remains, with the aim of offering all-day meals again in the spring. At the same time, First Mayor Christian Baron reported on the construction progress at Eutighofer Tor, where the first apartments should be ready for occupancy from April 2025. Despite the positive news, there are also concerns about the parking situation, which could be exacerbated by new housing offers, such as Rem's newspaper reported.
The problems in both cities highlight how differently local governments respond to the needs of their residents. While stones are placed in front of doors in Rostock to prevent citizens from doing some things, in Schwäbisch Gmünd solutions must be found for educational opportunities and parking shortages.
