Blackwork work in Burgenland: 16 arrests in the major campaign!
On Monday, March 10, 2025, a large -scale control to combat undeclared work took place in the Mattersburg district (Burgenland). Forces from the foreign and border police department, the financial police and the Federal Office for Foreign Affairs and asylum carried out a focus campaign. Suddenly 16 people were arrested because it was found that they had exceeded the permitted length of stay for working in the Schengen area. During this operation, a total of around 10,000 euros in security benefits were inserted by the persons concerned, and they were instructed to “immediately” arrive. These strict measures to combat illegal employment were developed as part of a broader strategy to promote compliance with the immigration laws, as well as the police
measure against undeclared work
The people concerned must now leave Austria within a very short time, which makes it clear how seriously the authorities take the fight against illegal employment relationships. This campaign follows a number of similar interventions that aim to regulate the working conditions and ensure that all employees comply with the legal regulations. The increased controls illustrate the authority's focus on maintaining legal standards in the labor market and at the same time the protection of jobs for people living in Austria. The Freile police emphasizes that this procedure is part of a comprehensive package of measures to combat illegal immigration and employment relationships that confess the law.
