Nicholas and Krampus bring tradition and joy to Oberwart!

Traditional St. Nicholas and Krampus customs recently experienced an exciting revival in Oberwart. On Thursday evening, Santa Claus and numerous Krampus visited the communities of Günseck and Unterkohlstätten to revive the pre-Christmas spirit. The Krampus also caused a stir in Unterkohlstätten, with Mayor Christian Pinzker praising the tradition as a peaceful event where children collected sweets and small gifts of money.

Instead of distributing Christmas presents, an impressive amount of 2,500 euros was handed over to Krebshilfe Burgenland to support the important work in psycho-oncological support and emergency financial aid.

Expansion of medical care in Oberwart

Another important event was the opening of a new department for oncology, hematology and palliative medicine at the Oberwart Clinic. Starting this week, cancer patients can receive high-quality care locally without having to travel long distances to Vienna or Graz. This was done by Health Burgenland reported. State Governor Doskozil emphasized the improved medical care provided by the new facility, which is under the direction of Univ.-Prof. Dr. Martin Pichler is a recognized expert in his field. The department houses a total of 20 beds for oncology patients and eight beds in the palliative care unit.

These developments in healthcare and local traditions highlight the importance of both social responsibility and quality medical care in the region. The ability for patients to receive treatment close to home is seen as a major plus for the population.
