New Year's reception in Oberteuringen: Strong together in stormy times!
The Oberteuringen community's New Year's reception recently took place in the “Die Post” restaurant and was fully booked. Many citizens took part in the event, where Mayor Ralf Meßmer looked back on the past year and looked ahead to the challenges of the new year. In his speech, Meßmer emphasized the importance of community cohesion, especially with regard to the crises affecting the population.
Particular attention was paid to honoring volunteers and outstanding athletes. Meßmer expressed his thanks to the volunteers for their valuable work in youth work and highlighted the successes of the “Mühle” cultural association and the “Busle” social transport service. At the awards, Sabine Müller, Udo Fritz and Eugen Rueß were recognized for 20 years on the local council, while ten other volunteer citizens were also recognized by the community foundation.
Review and outlook on the municipal projects
Meßmer cited the renovation of the fire station, the introduction of a new bus route X14 and the development of a new commercial area in Bildeschle as challenges for the community. He also reported on the municipality's tense budget situation and announced that it would have to be more economical in the coming years.
The mayor also looked back on the heavy rain event on June 26, 2024, which caused total damage of around 10 million euros. Meßmer praised the solidarity of the citizens during this disaster and informed that it will take up to three years to process the event and expand the high risk management.
In another notable statement, Meßmer made critical comments about political guidelines that, in his opinion, could negatively impact the economic development and quality of life of citizens. This addressed the topic of networking within the population, which was highlighted as positive despite global crises.
The highlight of the evening was the musical entertainment by the traditional costume band under the direction of Fabian Zürn, as well as the surprise guests, the star singers from the Catholic church community, who promoted donations for children in need.
The event was characterized by a strong sense of community, as reported by other media outlets. [schwaebische.de] emphasized that the New Year's reception not only served as a tribute, but also as an exchange between the citizens and thus contributed to strengthening the community.
Overall, the 2025 New Year's reception in Oberteuringen shows the commitment of the municipal administration and the citizens to solidarity and active cooperation.
