Schwäbisch Gmünd Music School: Friedemann Gramm is leaving, Christian Wolf is coming!

Friedemann Gramm, the long-time director of the Schwäbisch Gmünd Municipal Music School, is retiring at the end of the year after 24 successful years. During his tenure he was able to more than double the number of students from 900 to an impressive 2,000. This positive development was made possible through numerous collaborations with daycare centers, schools and music clubs, which enabled the music school to have a more active impact on the city. Gramm not only led the music school, but also consolidated it through innovative approaches, increasing the presence of the institution and the availability of music lessons in the community, such as gmuender-tagespost.de reported.

A successor takes over

His successor, Christian Wolf, will head the music school from January 1, 2025. Wolf, who grew up in Schwäbisch Gmünd and attended the music school himself as a student, brings extensive experience with him, having previously headed the music school in the city of Süßen. These positions have provided him with the necessary knowledge and skills to continue Gramm's successful work. His predecessor emphasizes that Wolf, as a former outstanding student at the school, is very familiar with the mainstream music scene and will therefore bring a fresh approach and new ideas to the institution. The change is seen as an opportunity for the music school to develop and grow, as reported by schwaebisch-gmuend.de.

Gramm will not only be retiring, but will also be breaking new ground by working as a teaching assistant at the Klösterleschule, where he will provide support in subjects such as reading and arithmetic. Handing over his responsibility is a challenge that he is looking forward to, as he can continue to be involved in education and do something for the children in the region. However, music will always remain a part of his life, even if he will no longer be actively involved in the Gmünder music school in the future.
