Art or chaos? Surrealism and plastic in the art house unveiled!
Untere Weißgerberstraße 13, 1030 Wien, Österreich - On February 26, 2025, the Kunst Haus Wien opens two new exhibitions that are critical of consumption and plastic. The first, "Mika Rottenberg. Antimatter Factory", presents the effects of hyper -capitalism in a surreal way and questions social abuses through absurd, humorous representations. According to Gerlinde Riedl, director of the Kunst Haus, Rottenberg is considered one of the most innovative artists of the present. In her works, including videos such as "Nonoseknows" and "Cosmic Generator", she addresses the absurdities of an economic system based on exploitation and alienated work, such as Kleine Zeitung reported.
absurd art and interactive experiences
When entering the exhibition, the visitor is greeted by a three -minute video in which men do bizarre things with grotesque noses, while kinetic sculptures from objects and plants invite to interact with art. Barbara Horvath, curator of the exhibition, describes this work as "nonsense machines", who humorously address the senselessness of energy consumption. At the opening, the artist will discuss her works and their meanings in a round of conversation, which increases the interest in her critical approach, such as ots determined.
In addition, the exhibition "Plastic Matters" in the Garage project, which follows the approach, opens to consider plastic not only as a waste, but as a valuable material on the same day. Here, visitors can actively participate in workshops in order to work independently with recycled plastic and thus raise awareness of sustainable material use. Veronika Hackl, curator of "Plastic Matters", emphasizes that the exhibition is designed as a recycling process and offers a way to see plastic in new contexts. Both exhibitions underline the urgency to deal with ecological and social challenges and invite visitors to actively participate in the solutions.
