In the fight for her professional future, primary school teacher Birgit Pitschmann from Stendal goes to the appeal court. As MDR SACHSEN-ANHALT reports, Pitschmann's lawyer Marco Slotta has made it clear that the aim is to overturn both the illegal and the termination without notice. Pitschmann, who passionately taught for decades, expressed her dismay at the way her achievements were recognized. “It is unacceptable that a teacher who has been there for her students for many years is treated like this,” she criticized. The state of Saxony-Anhalt, on the other hand, has hired its own lawyer and plans to restart the appeal process in order to enforce the termination in full.
Appointment of a new MDR director
In another significant step, Tim Herden was appointed as the new director of the MDR state broadcasting center in Saxony-Anhalt. This was confirmed by DWDL.de. The 57-year-old, who has been working for MDR since 1992, succeeds Ines Hoge-Lorenz, who resigned due to internal disagreements and the disclosure of personal connections. Director Karola Wille praised Herden's journalistic qualities and his vision for the state broadcasting center, which should act as a source of inspiration for social debates in the future. Wille emphasized that Herden wanted to increase the journalistic relevance of the MDR and promote proximity to citizens.
Herden takes on an important role at a time when MDR is faced with the challenge of continuing to offer relevant and high-quality content while adapting to current social changes. The MDR Broadcasting Council's approval of Herden's appointment was approved by a large majority, reflecting confidence in his future work.
