Ingeborg Bachmann: Exhibition in the Goethe House in Rome delights literature fans!
On March 13th, the Goethe House in Rome will open an impressive exhibition about the Austrian poet Ingeborg Bachmann entitled “I only exist when I write”. This retrospective illuminates the life and work of the central figure of 20th century literature and is complemented by various places that shaped him, including Klagenfurt, Vienna, Munich, Zurich and Berlin. The exhibition will be shown until August 31st and is a collaboration with the Literaturhaus Munich as well as the Austrian National Library and the Austrian Cultural Forum in Rome kathpress.at reported.
Bachmann, who was born on June 25, 1926 in Klagenfurt, left behind important works such as “Malina” and her volumes of poetry “Die hungte Zeit”. Her tragic end in Rome in 1973, when she was the victim of a fire accident, represents another multifaceted aspect of her life. Her connections to prominent figures such as Max Frisch and Henry Kissinger are brought to life in the exhibition through photographs, documents and more. The exhibition title is a quote from Bachmann that reflects her deep connection to writing and her philosophy of life.
