A badly decomposed woman's body was discovered in a gravel pit near Stockerau in the Korneuburg district on December 11th. Employees of a company working in the mine came across the body while working. Police spokesman Raimund Schwaigerlehner confirmed that the woman's identity is currently unknown and emphasized that the police are continuing to seek clarification.
Identity and cause of death unclear
The advanced level of decomposition on the body suggests that the woman may have been dead for several months. The public prosecutor's office has ordered an autopsy, the results of which as well as a toxicological report are still pending. According to Schwaigerlehner, the police cannot currently rule out a violent crime, an accident or a natural cause of death. In order to obtain information about the identity of the deceased, contacts were also made with neighboring countries, reported Kosmo.at and MyDistrict.at.
The investigations by the Lower Austria State Criminal Police Office are in full swing to clarify the background to this mysterious case. The local authorities are faced with the challenge of shedding light on the events surrounding the woman's death without currently having any reliable clues. The investigators are doing everything they can to shed light on the matter.
