“ Emily in Paris " will apparently say goodbye to a cast member who has been a part of the Netflix series since its inception. Camille Razat, who plays Emily's (Lily Collins) adversary with the same first name, will be joining the cast, according to a cast announcement appearing on Netflix's Thursday Tudum was released, will not return for the fifth season. Razat has been a regular cast member for the past four seasons, playing Gabriel's (Lucas Bravo) sometimes more and sometimes less romantic partner.
The return of the main actors
Cast members returning for next season include Collins, Bravo, Ashley Park, Philippine Leroy-Beaulieu and Lucien Laviscount. Emily's new Italian love interest, Marcello, played by Eugenio Franceschini, will also be back.
Character development controversies
Bravo's return to the series comes after the actor previously spoke about his dissatisfaction with his character's development. In an interview with IndieWire last year, he said he was wondering if he "wants to be a part of Season 5."
Production and plot of season 5
Netflix also announced Thursday that production on season five will begin in May, initially in Rome before filming back to Paris later this summer.
The fourth season ended with Emily's task of opening a branch of the Agence Grateau in Rome. Of course, her love interest Marcello will be part of this storyline, which will further complicate her already complex romantic relationship with Gabriel as they work towards getting his restaurant a Michelin star.
Outlook for Emily's future
“Marcello is a whole new adventure that we want for Emily because ultimately we want Emily to find a better balance between work and home life,” lead actress Collins told Tudum. "We want Emily to smile without strings attached. We want to see her beyond her vacation mode. And it's coming at a perfect time."
A release date for season 5 has not yet been announced.
