Brutal attack on Vösendorf's mayor: Who is behind it?

A serious incident occurred in Vösendorf when the mayor Hannes Koza (ÖVP) was brutally attacked on Tuesday evening. Koza reported that he was hit in the face in the castle park and threatened with death. "The attacker said I would not survive the municipal council meeting that took place tomorrow," he told the "Kronen Zeitung". Despite the shock and the physical trauma that testify to a blue eye, Koza remains optimistic and determined to continue to pursue his work for the community (as reported by krone.at)

reactions and support

The police confirmed the incident and Koza filed a complaint. He had his face in the hospital X -ray to have possible injuries clarified. The sympathy among the population, but also among political colleagues, is great. "Many have registered, Chancellor Karl Nehammer also assured his support," said Koza. Nevertheless, the opposition remains unmoved, which particularly regrets the mayor. "I really didn't think it would come that far, it's just sad," he said.

Koza is under pressure after a year that was shaped by political disputes and a clear election victory in May. The investigation against him, which led to an accusation of infidelity and abuse of office, were discontinued. In his view, this could represent the motif behind the attack, even if he does not know exactly where the aggression comes from (as orf.at reported). "My family is in shock, especially my 14-year-old daughter is afraid for her father," continued Koza. Nevertheless, the mayor emphasizes that he continues to seek dialogue with the opposition.
