Anton Knoll jumps to European Championship bronze – competition with heart and courage!
Austria's diver Anton Knoll recently achieved a remarkable success at the European Championships in Antalya. On May 25, 2025, he won the bronze medal in diving, confirming his strong performance in the preliminary competition. Knoll finished best and started the final with a lot of self-confidence, where he was initially in sixth place after five jumps. With an impressive three and a half somersault, he overtook three competitors and ultimately secured third place with a final score of 423.35 points. He saved the bronze medal with a lead of just 3.2 points over the fourth-placed diver.
In the competition, gold and silver went to Oleksij Sereda from Ukraine and the 17-year-old German Ole Johannes Rosler. Sereda took the gold medal with 468.65 points, while Rosler was able to celebrate the silver medal with 439.45 points. Knoll, who is 20 years old and comes from Vienna, now has two European Championship medals in his collection and has already competed at the Olympic Games. He said that he trusted the valuable work with his coach Aristide Brun and was proud of his achievements. Knoll describes his goal of making “awesome jumps,” which he ultimately succeeded in doing. Despite the success, he admits to having “post-Olympic” blues, but sees the bronze medal as an incentive for the upcoming competitions, especially the synchronized competition in which he and his partner Dariush Lotfi will compete as defending champions on Tuesday.
Further successes at the European Championships
The European Diving Championships show many more outstanding performances. The German duo Lena Hentschel and Luis Avila Sanchez won gold in the mixed synchronized competition on the 3m board on May 23rd with a total score of 289.74 points. They narrowly beat the Italian team Chiara Pellacani and Matteo Santoro, who took second place with 289.71 points. Third place went to Brits Desharne Bent-Ashmeil and Ben Cutmore with 271.80 points. Hentschel, who is already the Olympic bronze medalist in Tokyo, is showing impressive performances and is also in the 1m board final this Friday.
The competitions in Belek, which run until May 28, serve not only as the highlight of the European season, but also as important preparation for the Olympic Games in Los Angeles in 2028. The information about Knoll's achievements at the European Championships and the results of other athletes illustrate the high level of performance and talented athletes that come together at this event. Almost every participant seems to be in top form and well prepared for the upcoming World Championships in Singapore in July.
Things will remain exciting for Knoll.
