Wales royals test baking skills in flooded community
The Prince and them Princess of Wales worked in the kitchen during their visit to a community in Wales on Wednesday.
Visit to Pontypridd
During their visit to Pontypridd, a Welsh town affected by severe flooding last year, William and Catherine tried out their skills at making traditional Welsh pancakes. The royal couple also visited the city market, where they encountered shopkeepers and a crowd gathering along the streets.
Cooking in the Welsh Cake Shop
A stop at the Welsh Cake Shop was also part of her visit. The royal highnesses were warmly welcomed into the kitchen, put on aprons, rolled up their sleeves and grabbed the noodle walkers. A picture posted to the couple's Instagram account shows them laughing in front of a griddle with the caption: "Welsh pancakes anyone?"
Preparation of the food
After preparing their sweet treats, the royals were photographed handing them out to children in the crowd.

Prince William's public appearances
This wasn't Prince William's first time handing out food to the public. In 2023, the future king surprised unsuspecting guests at a London food truck when he posed as a waiter and served vegetable burgers. These meat-free meals were prepared using eco-friendly innovations by the winners of the Earthshot Prize - a ten-year project he created to "repair and restore the planet."
Preparing for Saint David’s Day
Wednesday's visit came just days before Saint David's Day, a national holiday celebrated annually on March 1 in Wales. In November, the town of Pontypridd was one of many areas in Wales affected by extreme flooding during Storm Bert, which swept across the United Kingdom. Just weeks later, Storm Darragh caused even more damage.
Admirable community resilience
“The resilience of the community here affected by the floods is remarkable,” the royals wrote on their official Instagram account.
Katherine and her return to royal duties
The visit to Wales marks another return to royal duties for Kate, who stepped away from public duties last year to undergo treatment for an unspecified cancer. In September, she announced she had completed chemotherapy and said she was doing "everything to stay cancer-free." Since then, she has resumed her solo visits, including a visit to the hospital where she was treated.
Valentine's Day greetings
Earlier this month, the couple posted a lovey-dovey photo on Instagram for Valentine's Day with a simple red heart emoji as the caption.
