Digital future: Kenya youth conquered the tech world with Digitruck!
As part of Huawei's successful Digitruck project, a celebration of 290 young people took place on March 17 in Homa Bay, Kenya. In the past six weeks, these graduates have been trained in important digital skills that are essential in today's world. Among the graduates were 143 women and 147 men who learned knowledge in areas such as computer application, digital marketing, entrepreneurship and cyber security. Dr. Raymond Omollo, State Secretary in the Kenyan Ministry of the Interior, emphasized: "Digital skills are no longer free - they are mandatory." This mobile training room, which is mounted on a truck and was equipped with modern digital tools, has reached a total of 6,030 young people since its introduction.
innovative solutions through training
The Digitruck project, which closes close cooperation with over 60 educational institutions, has the goal of promoting young job seekers, especially women, in rural areas and bridging digital clings. Adam Lane, Director of Government Affairs and Policy at Huawei, emphasized that the success of the project in Homa Bay can also be measured using an innovation competition that enabled participants to develop solutions for local challenges, especially in the areas of health services and cyber security.
In another context, the experienced entrepreneur Sabine Asgodom encouraged women to recognize her own potential more. She emphasized that women often assess their skills more critically than men and advocates that decision -makers should pay less attention to volume and more performance. "Women should become aware of their previous successes," said Asgodom, underlining the importance of a confident resource management to address new challenges. According to ASGodom, it is essential that more women come in management positions, because the management should be human and show appreciation. The connection between digital skills from projects such as Digitruck and the strengthening of women in leadership roles is obvious, since both form the basis for a successful and inclusive future.
