Trump repeats 18 false claims in Mar-A-Lago Review

in Washington, former President Donald Trump has repeatedly referred to the same wrong claims in his speeches, especially near the upcoming election day. Much of these statements concern immigration issues, but other topics are also addressed. In the following we review 18 false claims, which he set up during his comments on Tuesday in his Mar-A-Lago Club in Florida. This review is not intended as a comprehensive list of his wrong claims.

The role of Harris on the border

Trump incorrectly claimed that President Joe Biden Vice President Kamala Harris had appointed Harris as a "borders" and that she was "completely responsible" for the limits. Biden has never referred to Harris as a "borders" and in fact she was not blamed for border monitoring, a task that is responsible for the Minister of Internal Security, Alejandro Mayorkas. In reality, Harris received a limited task in 2021 that concentrated on diplomacy with El Salvador, Guatemala and Honduras to improve the conditions that the citizens of these countries urged to migrate to the United States.

people on the ICE list for non-detained foreigners

Regarding a list of immigrants with murder convicts, Trump repeated his wrong claim that Harris had "overcome over 13,000 convicted illegal foreigners". In fact, the Ministry of Internal Security has determined that this number also refers to people who have entered the country for decades, including Trump's own term. In addition, the number includes people who are currently in custody.

inhabitants in Springfield, Ohio

Trump incorrectly claimed that "32,000 illegal foreigners" in Springfield, Ohio, had been "unloaded". This claim is wrong in several ways. Although the immigration status of the individual Haitian immigrants in Springfield is unclear, many of them live lawfully in the country. The city of Springfield has made it clear that the Haitian immigrants came in as part of the Immigration Parole Program. Governor Mike Dewine from Ohio also confirmed that the immigrants are "illegal" and that the claims about them are "regrettable".

gangs in Aurora, Colorado

Trump incorrectly found that a passage from Venezuela "Die Stadt" in Aurora, Colorado, had "taken over". This gait caused some problems, but has by no means checked the city. The Republican Mayor of Aurora, Mike Coffman, emphasized in a joint explanation that the gang "did not take over the city".

The number of immigrants

Trump repeated his wrong claim that Harris had let "21 million foreigners" into the country. In fact, fewer than 11 million “encounters” were documented with migrants in the bid administration by September, including many who were quickly shown from the country.

foreign prisons

Trump again claimed that foreign leaders empty their prisons to let their criminals to the United States. However, there is no evidence of this claim. Instead, the global prison population increased from October 2021 to April 2024, which contradicts the opposite of his claim.

Venezuela and prisons

Trump repeated his unfounded thesis that Venezuela "had emptied his prisons into our country". Experts have classified these claims as baseless and have not found any evidence.

Lost children and Harris

Trump made the wrong statement that "325,000 children are missing, have become dead or victims of human trafficking". This number is based on a misinterpretation of national statistics that do not reproduce the meaning of the missing children in context.

Fema and the hurricane Helene in North Carolina

Trump incorrectly claimed that the federal government did not react to Hurricane Helene in North Carolina. The opposite is the case: Fema was immediately on site and had over 1,700 employees. Governor Roy Cooper confirmed the Federal Government's quick reaction.

fema and migrants

Trump further expressed that Fema spent money on entering illegal migrants. This claim is not true; Fema does not use their disaster aid funds for undocumented people.

Trump and the north stream 2 pipeline

Trump claimed that he had "finished" the north stream 2 gas pipeline to Germany. In reality, the construction work on the project continued during his term.

veterans Choice

Trump claimed that he had introduced the Veterans Choice program, and it was launched by his predecessor Barack Obama in 2014. Trump signed a law to expand the program in 2018.

who pays tariffs?

Trump once again spread the wrong claim that tariffs had brought in "a hundred billion dollars" on China. However, it is the US importers who pay the customs fees, not China.

former presidents and tariffs on China

Trump repeated his wrong claim that no other President had raised tariffs to Chinese imports. In fact, there were tariffs on Chinese goods beforehand.

inflation

Trump blamed Harris for the current high inflation. While the inflation rate has increased under bidges, this is not the worst inflation in the history of the United States. According to the state statistics, this could never achieve the record height of 23.7% in 1920.

the European Union and products

Trump made a subjective claim that the "European Union exploits us". There are some trade barriers, but it is exaggerated to say that the EU "does not accept our products".

The trade deficit with the European Union

Trump repeated the wrong claim that the United States had a deficit of over $ 300 billion with the EU. In fact, the trade deficit of goods and services in 2023 was around $ 125 billion.

The foundation of the European Union

Trump claimed that the EU was founded to take advantage of the United States. This statement is unfounded and contradicts the historical facts that should promote the integration process in Europe.
